about

This album is about a vision I had a while back...

It's about a boy and girl who find themselves within the same dream, unaware if the other is a figment of their imagination. In the dream they awaken on top of a slow, moving train in the countryside, each one interpreting the experience in a different way: The girl envisions airplanes in the distance floating to the ground, while the boy sees bodies slowly descending to a group of hills far-off in the distance. They share their visions and hold hands, each finding the other's story to be beautiful and inspiring. In whispers, they both promise to never let go and ride on the back of the train until they wake up. They close their eyes, sharing memories from past dreams and experiences before drifting off to sleep.

As time passes the train moves faster and faster, and the boy discovers that they are now headed for a cliff, meaning the dream will soon be over and their time together will end. Instead of waking the girl, he decides to let her sleep, ensuring she never experiences loss while inside of the dream and will always remember it as a positive experience.

But seconds before going over the edge, she wakes up, and they both embrace as the train tumbles over the edge. They say their goodbyes and drift slowly apart, each one reaching out for the other as the world breaks apart.

First three songs were recorded on June 16th, when the brakes of the trucks tumbling by sounded like muffled trains...

about

All Lights started as an ambient/post-rock project one cold day in January, 2010. In the corner of a dusty, old garage near the middle of rural Indiana, a series of noisy drones were recorded using limited hardware. These drones were rewritten again and again until they became the soundtracks you hear today.

Thanks for listening.

Track Name: Hold My Hand, Darling
One night in April, I walked outside.
The stars above, circled around me, breaking off into little bits, the stardust falling from the sky like angels without wings.
A temporary silence followed by a wall of noise and joyous confusion.
I fell back into the grass, and then I woke up.
Track Name: She Saw Airplanes
Her eyes flickered open like an 8mm film.
A hazy recollection of images projected out into the stars... in and out of black and white and color
A feeling of loss.
A feeling of hopelessness.
She watched an airplane fall from the sky and become a cruise missile, bringing two structures to their feet in a pile of rubble
She collapsed in front of the television set and stared at the ceiling, breaking apart, opening up to the sky.
"I can't remember what life was like before now" she said, and fell back asleep.
Track Name: And Then Our World Began to Fall Apart
And then the world around us began to far apart.
We were both falling now.... reaching out for each other
But we were too far apart, and our arms would never reach.

I saw her smile one last time.

And then her eyes began to flicker, dying away.
And I could feel myself drifting backwards, slowly.
I welcomed the darkness, closing my own eyes.
And I began to wake.
